New to St John's

We recognise that coming somewhere new can be a bit of a daunting experience but its also a great way to meet new friends but you may have some questions. We have listed the common one we get asked.

What do I do when I arrive?

You will receive a warm welcome from our Welcome team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all. You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

Will I have to pay?

If you are visiting or checking us out we don't expect you to pay anything but if you decide to make St John's your spiritual home then we can explain how we finance ourselves and you can work out what to do based on your own personal circumstances

But I won't know what to do

There is no 'standing on ceremony' here at St. John’s. You don't need to know 'what to do' as the leader of each service will guide you through things step by step and when you need to join in the words are shown on big screens around the church.

How can I get to know people?

We normally have a chat over tea and coffee at the end of the service so please feel free to join us. If you feel uncomfortable starting up a conversation with complete strangers please catch up with one of our Welcome team or the people who have been leading the service and they will be happy to talk (its what they are there for) - but please don't be afraid to ask anyone for help if there is something you need to know.

Do you have a toilet?

Yes. We have toilets in the centre which is connected to church.

Is the church cold?

No. It is fully heated.

Do you make provision for people with disabilities?

We welcome people with disabilities at all our services, groups and church family activities.

  • Wheelchair users are welcome and there is a special wheel chair friendly area which is situated by the ramp access onto the stage at the front of church.  - do ask one of the welcome team who will be happy help

  • There is an accessible toilet in the Church centre which is attached to the church.

I have more questions, how do I get in touch?

Please feel to phone the Church Office on 0161 338 8199 or email them on
