St John’s Church in Partnership with Holy Trinty Church Stalybridge and the New Life Church Ashton operate the Tameside East Foodbank which is a registered charity and part of the Trussell Trust, a national Christian food bank charity.

People in need of food are referred to us via agencies such , health services, social services, housing providers, schools and probation  who are registered with us.  Currently there are over 100 such agencies. Our visitors are welcomed with the offer of tea, coffee and toast and the chance to talk about their situation or just have a friendly chat with a volunteer. Those who attend are usually in crisis and feeling distressed so as well as providing food we seek to treat people with dignity, respect and the offer of prayer where appropriate. In this way we seek to show God’s love for humanity.
